A strange murder takes place in the remote Icelandic fjords. An influential municipal politician is found shot dead on a ski slope. While investigating the murder, detective Hildur Rúnarsdóttir, who surfs the icy waves of the Atlantic, and Jakob Johanson, a Finnish police trainee who has taken up knitting sweaters, are faced with a difficult question. Hildur's childhood traumas return when the mystery of the long-lost sisters, Rósa and Björk, begins to unravel. Jakob tries to keep a cool head in the midst of a difficult custody dispute. Evil is often found nearby, but closeness to people is still the greatest asset we have.
